A shared vision of port develpment

Mejiport, the Logistics and Port Community of Mejillones, is a collaborative work initiative among public and private stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving port activity in the bay.

Mejiport has been driven and promoted by CPM since September 2014, and has so far defined its organizational structure, mission-vision, strategic axes, and areas of work.

This year, its focuses are on continuous improvement and innovation in port activities, aimed at promoting new and efficient solutions, as well as strengthening the quality of logistic services; safety and environment to consolidate sustainable activity in harmony with the city and the quality of life of its inhabitants; and carrying out collaborative management that facilitates the exchange of information, best practices, and coordination within the Community.

Mejiport’s mission is to become the coordinating body for public and private stakeholders of the ports and terminals in the bay of Mejillones, contributing to the competitiveness of port and logistics activity, through continuous improvement of efficiency, innovation, sustainability, and in harmony with the city’s development and the quality of life of its inhabitants.

The vision is for the bay of Mejillones to be recognized nationally and in Latin America as a reference for port logistics activity in terms of collaborative management, best practices, innovation, and in harmony with the city’s development.

The Logistics and Port Community of Mejillones includes the main public and private stakeholders directly involved in the logistics chain of the ports and terminals in the bay of Mejillones: port companies and concessionaires, exporters and importers, operators, shipping agents, land and railway transporters, etc. From the public sector, mention can be made, among others, of the National Customs Service, SAG, PDI, Health Service.

Representatives of regional and municipal authorities also participate, particularly in areas related to Transport, Labor, Health, and Urban Development.

It is expected to integrate other relevant actors in port and logistics activities, as well as sectors related to the environment and quality of life.
